Turkey Roasting Time Chart

The following chart shows the approximate roasting times for stuffed and unstuffed turkeys based on the weight of the turkey. Be sure to use a meat thermometer to determine doneness.

Place the meat thermometer in the thickest part of the thigh, taking care that it does not touch any bone.

For an unstuffed turkey roast the turkey until the meat thermometer reaches 180°F (82°C).

The roasting time for a stuffed turkey can vary up to 30 minutes. When testing the doneness of stuffed turkey you will need to test the temperature of both the bird and the dressing. The turkey should have a temperature of 180°F (82°C) and the center of the dressing, either in the turkey or in a separate dish, must reach a temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.

Roasting time will be shorter or longer than indicated on the chart if the turkey is warmer or colder than refrigerator temperature.
