Chocolate Syrup

A delicious topping for ice cream or your favorite dessert.


2 1/2 cups


1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups granulated (white) sugar
1 cup hot water
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Place cocoa, sugar, water, salt and corn syrup in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook for 3 minutes.

Remove from heat and add vanilla, stirring to mix well. Cool to room temperature and then store in a tightly covered container in the refrigerator until ready to use. Keeps well for months.
