Greatest Ham Glaze

Brown sugar, molasses, mustard, and gold rum combine to create this delicious, sweet-and-spicy ham glaze.

Yield

1 1/2 cups

Ingredients

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
8 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/2 cup gold rum (such as Bacardi Gold®)
1/4 cup dark molasses
3 tablespoons spicy mustard
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Combine brown sugar, butter, rum, molasses, mustard, and cider vinegar in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, and reduce heat to low. Simmer, stirring constantly, until sugar has melted and the glaze has thickened, about 8 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Additional Information

For a darker glaze, use dark brown sugar instead of light.

To use glaze, apply to heated cooked ham, and heat for an additional 15 minutes.
