Garlic and Mustard Burgers

A cheesy beef burger made with ground beef, Dijon mustard, garlic, Monterey jack cheese and roasted red bell peppers.


4 burgers


1 pound lean (at least 80%) ground beef
3 tablespoons country-style Dijon mustard
5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
4 sandwich buns, split
4 (1 ounce) slices Monterey Jack cheese
1 (7 ounce) jar roasted red bell peppers, drained
lettuce leaves


Heat gas or charcoal grill. In medium bowl, mix beef, mustard and garlic. Shape mixture into 4 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.

Place patties on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 13 to 15 minutes, turning once, until meat thermometer inserted in center of patties reads 160°F (71°C). Add buns, cut sides down, to grill for last 4 minutes of grilling or until toasted. Top burgers with cheese.

Serve burgers on buns with lettuce and red peppers.

Additional Information

Fresh tomato slices can be substituted for the roasted red bell peppers.

Sprinkle fresh herbs or garlic cloves over heated coals for an added flavor boost.
