Sweet Potato Sonker

Ingredients

4 cups of sweet potatoes
1 1/2 cups of granulated (white) sugar
1 stick butter or margarine
2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
10 Butter-Me-Not Biscuits
2 cups sweet milk*

Directions

Use a pan or casserole dish about 3 inches deep and 28 inches around. Peel and slice sweet potatoes in water and cook until done or almost dry.

Put 2 cups of cooked potatoes in dish, spread over bottom of dish. Pour 3/4 cups sugar on top slices, 1/2 stick of butter on top of sugar; then 1 teaspoon vanilla over top of sugar (just sprinkle it on top the best you can). Take the 5 biscuits, roll out and put on top. Then pour 1 cup sweet milk over top of sonker.

Cook on 475°F until biscuits are brown. Then take out,turn biscuits over and brown on other side. After you do this, start all over for another layer.

Additional Information

* According to the Dairy Council of Wisconsin, when a recipe calls for sweet milk, it is referring to whole milk.
