Granny's Peaches and Cream Cobbler

This easy-to-make peach cobbler brings memories of visits to Grandma's house.

Filling Ingredients

1 cup granulated (white) sugar
2 large eggs, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
4 to 6 medium (4 cups) peaches, peeled, pitted, sliced*

Cobbler Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
5 tablespoons granulated (white) sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter, room temperature
1 large egg, slightly beaten
3 tablespoons milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). In a large bowl, stir together 1 cup sugar, 2 beaten eggs, 2 tablespoons flour, and nutmeg. Stir in peaches. Pour into 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

In a medium bowl, stir together 1 1/2 cups flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder and salt; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in 1 slightly beaten egg and milk just until moistened. Crumble mixture over peaches; sprinkle with remaining sugar.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly around edges. Serve with whipping cream, if desired.

Additional Information

* Substitute 2 (16-ounce) packages sliced frozen peaches.
