Butterscotch Filling


1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch*
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 tablespoon butter or margarine, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, and milk in a small saucepan then bring to a boil. Stir constantly for 1 minute and remove from heat. Add the butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted. Cool to room temperature before using.


* Add in additional cornstarch as needed to reach desired thickness.
