Applesauce Bread

Two loaves of delicious bread made moist with applesauce, and sour cream or buttermilk.

Yield

two 9 x 5-inch loaves (24 servings)

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour
3 large eggs
2 cups granulated (white) sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups applesauce
1 cup raisins (optional)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup sour cream

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease two 9 x 5-inch loaf pans with Pan Release or cooking spray.

Beat together eggs, sugar, and oil. Blend in applesauce, and then sour cream or buttermilk. Mix in flour, baking powder, soda, and cinnamon. Stir in raisins. Pour batter into prepared pans.

Bake for 80 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes, then remove from pan. Place on a cooling rack to cool.
